![]() ![]() This is the first time (since Planescape) that I've felt so engrossed in a video game, and cared about its characters, dreamt about them, and want to talk to everyone about the experience. So now I'm going to get the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, and I can't wait. The same type of feeling I've always had when I finished reading a fantastic epic. Now that it is all over I feel a little sad. I am also particularly happy I played it on the second hardest setting - got to explore the deep combat as well. The action combat is fluid and animated (not as good as Shadow of Mordor but WAY better than Dragon Age). The choices I made in the game I felt were true to Geralt and though I had one of the bittersweet endings, it feels authentic - I got what I deserved :). This is definitely game of the year contender. By that point though i was ready to see the story through. The game took 100 hours for me to finish, and I still had a full quest log. ![]() I would go and make sure everything was done so I wouldn't be disturbed, come back with coffee in hand and just enjoy the ride. ![]() There were even times I would pause the game, particularly when I knew a big decision was coming up. There were moments in this game where I just stared at the screen, filled with wonder or a profound sadness. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may be the best open-world game ever made-at least in terms of quest structure-but its held back by clunky controls and an oft-forgettable open world.
